Wedding Day Photography Event Time Frames

Your wedding date is quickly approaching and one question that often gets asked is, “How long will we need for certain photos and wedding events?” Here is a helpful guide to Wedding Day Photography Event Time Frames when deciding how many hours you want to book your photographer to capture the main events. It is also a good idea to consult with your planner as they might have suggestions that pertain to your specific location or wedding day.

 

Bridal details and getting ready photographs – 1-1.5 hours

Getting in Gown – 30 minutes

Groom getting ready – 30 minutes

Groomsmen Photos – 15 minutes

Bridesmaid Photos – 15 minutes

First Look & Portraits – 30 minutes

Ceremony Details – 20 minutes

Ceremony – 30 minutes

Family Photos – 30 minutes

Full Wedding Party Photos – 15 minutes

Romantic Couple Portraits – 30-45 minutes

Cocktail hour – 20 minutes

Reception photos (preferably before guests are let in) – 20 minutes

Grand Entrance – 5 minutes

First Dance – 3 minutes

Dinner – 45 minutes (usually photographers take dinner break during this time)

Toasts – 15 minutes

Formal Dances – 5-10 minutes

Open Dancing – 30 minutes

Grand Exit – 15 minutes
